Intel Releases 2016 Diversity in Technology Mid-year Report
Intel’s diversity and inclusion goals are backed by a $300 million Diversity in Technology Initiative that includes increasing the company’s spending with diverse suppliers, investing and transforming the education pipeline, and combating online harassment.
Intel Appoints New CIO
After nearly five successful years as Intel’s CIO, Stevenson will transition to a new executive role at Intel. Stevenson will serve as chief operating officer for the Client and Internet of Things Businesses and Systems Architecture (CISA) Group reporting to Dr. Venkata “Murthy” Renduchintala. She will remain on Intel’s management committee.

The ‘Office of the Future’ – Coming Soon to a Workplace Near You
The study, which surveyed 4,000 full-time employees from small, medium and large businesses across 10 countries, found 57 percent of workforce members expect to work in a smart office within the next five years. Moreover, almost half of the study’s respondents believed the offices they work in today are not smart enough. The numbers were even more pronounced among millennials, of which 42 percent said they would quit a job that offered substandard tech and 82 percent said workplace tech would influence which job offer they accept.
Intel and Airbus Demo Drone Inspection of Passenger Airliners
The AscTec Falcon 8, a market leader in professional aerial inspection and surveying, was flown using a flight control system managed by a human pilot. The Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) followed a predetermined flight path systematically taking a series of fully-automated pictures. The images, especially the ones showing scratches, dents and painting defects, will be compiled in a 3-D digital model, recorded in a database and analyzed. This data will help to improve damage traceability, and also to prevent and reduce them.
